Whatever Ray is up to now

From pixel to final piece

I’ve been working as an editor and VFX artist on films, series and commercials for over 30 years. Not exactly your average summer blockbuster, perhaps, but always fun, challenging and a great excuse to keep making things.

As a creative person, I also like venturing into unfamiliar territory. I’ve always loved being able to say, “I made my own…” — whether that’s an EP, a miniature, a weird little gadget, or even an actual board game.

So rather than making yet another VFX showreel site, I decided to make this a showcase of the things I’ve created along the way — from the first pixel to the final piece.

Aliens: Phalanx

Scott Sigler

Medieval carnage as a pre-industrial society fights extinction at the hands of a massive infestation of Xenomorphs.

03 read · 02 on the pile

Neuromancer

William Gibson

Case, a computer hacker gets enlisted into a crew by a powerful artificial intelligence and a traumatised former soldier to complete a high-stakes heist.

My takeThird attempt to read this before the TV-show airs. As of now, a fourth attempt is in the works.

The secret of secrets

Dan Brown

Robert Langdon’s world spirals out of control when she disappears without trace from their hotel room.

My takeReads like a typical Brown but doesn't really stick.

The Rose Field

Philip Pullman

Lyra, now twenty years old, and her daemon Pantalaimon, forced to navigate their relationship in a way they could never have imagined.

My takeAlthough it started ok, it couldn't hold my attention. Will probably pick it up sometime after Aliens: Phalanx.
